Bring Forth the Leader Within – The Newave Leaders Mission

As Newave Leaders, we (Louise Santiago and Maria Connolly) want to share our mission with you. We have a passion for educating, inspiring, and empowering women to intentionally develop their authentic presence, core values, attitudes and skills that are the foundation of high-performance leadership.

Our goal is to develop intentional leaders. A key to gaining greater clarity is to develop a greater understanding of your shape somatically. What do we mean by “your shape”?

View our short video below where we share how your shape is the totality of your experience: the stories you have about yourself, about other people, and about the world. And how your shape directly impacts whether or not you can step into the next phase of your life.

We approach leadership development in a new way. Would you like to catch this new wave of leadership? We invite you to join us for our upcoming retreat, Bring Forth the Leader Within. Within five fabulous days, you’ll know exactly how to bring your amazing ideas to life.

Unfulfilled Dreams in a Drawer — Isn’t It Time to Let Them Out?

“The key to realizing a dream is to focus not on success but significance, and then even the small steps and little victories along your path will take on greater meaning.” ~ Oprah Winfrey

Do you have one of those junk drawers into which you throw things that you can’t bear to lose, yet probably won’t use ever again? While it doesn’t matter if you never see the rubber bands, paper clips and spare keys again, there is something vitally important you’ve been sneaking into that drawer over time, isn’t there? Yes, how many of your dreams are hidden away in there?

Your dreams are not junk. They don’t deserve to be thrown into a drawer, ignored, and finally discarded at the end of your life with a huge sigh of, “Oh well, I wish…but I guess it doesn’t matter.” Are you really okay with living with regrets like that?

We all have dreams in a drawer. Yes, we admit we’ve also done it. But we’re taking those dreams out, dusting them off, and breathing life into them. And it’s so empowering! What might some of your dreams be; why did you put them in a drawer; and how can you get them out and bring them to life? Perhaps you can relate to the following:

The Dream: Because you care deeply for others, you want to influence your family, friends, business associates, and community to achieve their collective best. You know that the more they excel, the better your world becomes. But this dream of influencing others requires that you “Define your leader within.”

The Problem: It seems impossible, because you just don’t have the time, energy, or focus to do the deep personal work necessary to bring your wisdom forth into the world.

The Solution: Make a commitment to yourself to get away and seriously explore and clarify what you want. Visit lovely surroundings where you can de-stress and, with pen and paper, think deeply without distraction.

The Dream: Because you’re brimming with creative ideas, you know you can make a real difference, if only people would pay attention, take you seriously and give you the respect you deserve. This dream takes a tremendous amount of Self-confidence.

The Problem: You get so keyed up and stressed when it’s time to communicate your ideas that you stutter, stammer, and stumble until you crumble in self-defeat.

The Solution: Learn to embody your dreams – create a shape in your body through somatic skills (greater mindfulness, NLP techniques, enhanced emotional intelligence, and state management skills) that give you the ability to carry out your dreams.

The Dream: You want to live larger, go places, see things, experience life to the full and collect the greatest personal experience possible.

The Problem: Trying something new can be fraught with fear, insecurity, and negative self-talk. How do you push past those powerful, internal forces?

The Solution: Join our retreat! You won’t have to worry about transportation from the airport, lodging, meals or workshop materials. Just concentrate on enjoying yourself, as we help you create an actionable vision for the life you desire.

The Dream: You want recognition and the ability to transform lives. So a part of you want to step up and become a leader – a part of you doesn’t.

The Problem: You’re afraid to be vulnerable and give voice to your trapped desires, and your daily choices aren’t always congruent with the purpose you feel. How do you re-connect with yourself so all of you parts are in harmony and the leader within can be brought forth?

The Solution: Find a safe environment and trusted confidants with whom you can practice, refine and clarify your unique place in the world. Our retreat will help you feel good in your own skin, as you match your internal sense of direction with the steps you take.

As women, we grow up in the shadow of others. We nurture and sacrifice so others can live the lives they’re meant to live. Yet we may fail to apply that same courtesy to ourselves.

You deserve to reconnect with your inner self in a way that accelerates your growth as a woman, as a leader, as a force for change. Please join our group of supportive, like-minded women as we attend our annual Women: Bring Forth the Leader Within Retreat June 20 to 26th in Grand Canary Island. We’re looking forward to meeting you in person!

Sign-up by March 31st and you’ll get two additional bonus coaching sessions with us! Your dreams have never been so close within reach!

Are you Ready for a New Wave of Leadership?

“While we may be individually strong, we are collectively powerful.” — Rakhi Voria, Worldwide Inside Sales Business Manager with Microsoft

For millennium, leadership has been based on a hierarchical model. The “normal” structure of leadership, where a few have power and control over the many, is deeply ingrained and widespread. As a result, many women have never examined their own leadership skills in the light of a more expansive and collaborative approach. However, profound new challenges are compelling women to rise up and question whether the “normal” approach is really the most effective.

We wholeheartedly believe that leadership is an innate ability of every woman.

As women born in the 20th century and paving the way in the 21st, we’ve both been on journeys to discover our own unique brand of leadership. We met in 2016 at a coach development event that was a turning point in both of our lives. We became great personal and professional friends and realized that in collaboration we can make an even bigger impact than we can on our own.

Every woman has the ability to be a leader on her own terms. Rather than using traditional models, we invite women to be part of a new, more collaborative approach to leadership. Newave Leaders was born in an effort to harness the collective power of women to make a positive impact on our personal lives, careers, families, communities, and eventually create a wave big enough to make a difference in our world.

Do you feel like you’re making a difference as an authentic and inspirational leader?

We believe that growth is intentional and requires consistency. If you see room for improvement, don’t be discouraged. In fact, that’s a good sign because leaders are never content with the status quo; they’re committed to growth. The truth is who you are today isn’t who you were last year, nor does it have to be who you will be tomorrow. Your strengths and weaknesses may be attributed to genetics or the surroundings you grew up in, however you can choose to become the leader you want to be.

Propel Forward with the PADLE Model

The truth is, even though leadership is an innate part of us, it can lay dormant, buried, disguised, or unappreciated. So the first step is to gain conscious awareness of self. Strong self-awareness allows you to be present in the reality of now, which maximizes your ability to grow as you unfurl your unique brand of leadership.

If you want to gain more awareness that you can leverage in your growth as a leader, we’d like to introduce you to our PADLE model. The PADLE model is a five-step process where you can:

(P) Primal Core – explore patterns that keep you stuck.

(A) Awareness – clarify changes you want to make but don’t quite know how.

(D) Declaration – commit to routines or practices that focus on self-care.

(L) Leadership – identify places in your life when you would like to step forward but don’t know how or don’t think you can.

(E) Extension – discover how to bring your best self forward with confidence, contribute to a group or community, and feel a sense of satisfaction.

If you’re ready to gain insight into your leadership skills, take our thought-provoking questionnaire that will further introduce you to our Newave PADLE model. This brief questionnaire will give you astonishing insight into your leadership skills, which you can leverage in your growth and evolution as a new kind of leader.

We’re ready to make a difference in our lives, in our communities, and in the world. How about you?

4 Meaningful Connections You Can Make at a Women’s Retreat

“If you wish to advance in any sphere, the best way is to take a retreat.” – Pico Iyer

Have you ever come home from vacation more exhausted than when you left? Usually, this happens when you try to cram in too many activities. Or to the other extreme, you laze around the pool, doing absolutely nothing besides overindulging in food and drink. Either way, you may be missing the whole point of vacation – to refresh and reinvigorate yourself. As soon as you get back to “the real world,” anxiety quickly piles up again.
